FLOW PERFORMANCE MEMBER OF THE YEAR - Lachlan Hicken O’Dea

FLOW PERFORMANCE MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Lachlan Hicken O’Dea

Lachlan, or Lachy as he’s more affectionately known, is the youngest (and possibly tallest!) member of the Flow Performance community! Lachy signed up with us when he was only 16 years old and in the two years that he’s been training with us, he has become one of our most consistent attendees and has seen some incredible results across the board.

Lachy always shows up with a positive attitude, works hard in the gym and is one of the friendliest and most genuine people you’ll have the pleasure of knowing. He loves to get involved in our community events and always has a smile on his face, which is why it’s a no-brainer that he’s been awarded our Member Of The YEAR!

So, tell me about yourself!

My name is Lachlan and I work as an IT Support Officer at a North Perth MSP. I started training with Flow Performance in early 2019, before that I bounced around a variety of gyms.

What were your goals when you first started?

My initial goals were to improve my body. I hadn’t done any training in a while, was more prone to getting sick and didn’t like what my physique had become.

You’ve had a pretty incredible transformation, what are the numbers exactly?

I went from 72kg to 98kg at my peak (to be fair, I did grow a bit too), I’m now sitting at 91kg with a fairly low BF%.

In terms of strength, my deadlift one rep max went from 110kg to 170kg in a year, my squat went from 90kg to 137kg and my bench from 55kg to 82kg.

How do you feel at the moment? Both physically and mentally?

Physically and mentally I feel the best I ever have. My cardio is the best it has been in my entire life, I feel stronger than ever and feel good on a day to day basis.

Mentally I feel phenomenal, going to the gym is the highlight of my day and looking at what I’ve been able to achieve fills me with joy.

When you were starting out at Flow, was there anything you were super apprehensive about?

The first time I trained I felt like I wasn’t fit enough to be in the class, but everyone supported me which gave me the motivation to keep training.

What's the best part about training here? What do you think sets us apart from other gyms?

The community at Flow is what sets it apart from other gyms, everyone is always kind and supportive of whatever you are doing, the coaches push you to be the best you can be and the out of gym activities are always a blast.

Do you have anything else you’d like to add? What keeps you coming back?

The friends I've made and the guidance I receive are what keeps me coming back. Going to Flow is one of the greatest decisions I've ever made and I can't be more thankful to everyone involved in making Flow what it is.

We have absolutely loved seeing Lachy grow not only physically, but mentally too. He is a prime example of how consistency pays off and his attitude encapsulates everything that we embody at Flow Performance. Keep up the awesome work, Lachy!
